Simon Bolivar, The Libertador

A Virtual Experience in the Bromsen Room

In the late 1990s, Maury A. Bromsen, then Honorary Curator and Bibliographer of Latin Americana at the John Carter Brown Library, donated to the library his marvelous collection of Bolivariana. The Bromsen gift included twenty-two manuscripts by and related to Simón Bolívar, as well as a rich collection of
books, portraits, engravings, and memorabilia.

To honor this collection, the JCB inaugurated the Bromsen Room in 2000, and a new exhibition about the Liberator of the Americas. The Simón Bolívar exhibition is moving to the digital world to reach new audiences. This is being accompanied by ongoing digitization of the Bromsen Bolivariana Collection and the creation of the virtual experience,
which you can visit here.
